It is one of the most beautiful main squares in
South America. It is surrounded by the Main Cathedral (North) and
three colonial buildings called “Portales” because of
their front architecture with multiple arcs. The Portales are made
by stone which is carefully sculpted.
In the middle of the main square there is a beautiful fountain built
on 1730. It has a bronze sculpture called TUTURUTU, which represents
an ancient soldier playing a trumpet.
