Traditional
and elegant neighborhood, located 2 km away from Arequipa downtown,
8 min by car. Yanahuara has decorated, narrow streets. The
typical houses keep their ancient architectural treasures, they
were built with “sillar” (a volcanic white stone).
Yanahuara square is located in the upper part of the neighborhood
and Yanahuara church is next to it. This famous church was
built on 1750 and the front is sculpted with baroque style.
We can find also the well known Yanahuara viewpoint built on XIX
century. It is made with sillar too and has multiple arcs
carved with poems fragments (the poems were written by illustrious
poets from Arequipa). From this viewpoint we can see
a spectacular view of the city and Misti volcano..
